Agency is the power or capacity of an individual to act independently and make their own free choices. While character agency, the agency of characters (including player characters) in the game world, may be taken away during the normal course of a role-playing game, taking away player agency, the agency of another player at the table (including the GM), should never happen in a game and may be considered a form of assault against that player.
