An approach or style is a type of character statistic that, when used in a resolution mechanic, describes how the character has acted without conveying information about what they have done (unlike attributes or skills). Approaches tend to be worded as adjectives or adverbs that can be used to describe a character or what they are doing.

Approaches were popularised in the game Fate Accelerated Edition (which used the following set of 6: careful, clever, flashy, forceful, quick, and sneaky), and have been used more recently in the Dishonored RPG (which called them styles and used a similar set consisting of: boldly, carefully, cleverly, forcefully, quietly, swiftly).
