A dedicated table campaign is a style of campaign play in which the role-playing game group is expected to be made up of the same players each session. The players are committed ("dedicated") to the campaign. (The actual table need not be the same for each session, e.g. if hosting duties rotate.)
A dedicated table is contrasted with an open table campaign, in which the players are not expected to be consistent from session to session and new players are welcome.
Dedicated tables are the most common type of campaign. They allow a depth of shared experience and creativity that are not possible with open tables, but the level of commitment required can be a barrier to entry for new players, and dedicated campaign sessions can be harder to schedule if any of the dedicated players have other responsibilities or commitments.
