An ettin is a type of giant from Irish folklore.
In Dungeons & Dragons, an ettin is a two-headed, brutish creature of great size that resembles an ogre or an orc. In Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, they were depicted as having a stronger and weaker arm, but since Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition they have been depicted as being able to fight ambidextrously.
