Ghost

A ghost in Dungeons & Dragons.

A ghost (sometimes known as an apparition, haunt, phantom, poltergeist, shade, specter or spectre, spirit, spook, and wraith) is an undead spirit. A ghost arises from the soul of a person who dies. Generally, a ghost is incorporeal, although it may be able to affect the living world in various ways. These powers may have an emotional source, possibly tied to unfinished business from their lives.

Ghost stories are a common staple of the horror genre, e.g. Murderous Ghosts.

Specter

A specter in Dungeons & Dragons

Ghosts often appear as monsters or enemies in fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, in which they may require magic or magic weapons to damage. Such games can include distictions between different types of undead spirit, e.g. Dungeons & Dragons treats ghosts, specters, and wraiths as different types of being. (Ghosts seek to resolve their unfinished business and move on, wraiths are especially malevolent and desire to end life, and specters are filled with anger but are weaker than ghosts and wraiths.)

In Torg, ghosts are found in Orrorsh.

The Ghost is a playable Skin in Monsterhearts.
