Scheduling a role-playing game is the act of arranging the time of a future session so that enough players can join in to make the game worthwhile.

Scheduling, specifically in a dedicated table campaign, is notoriously difficult, particularly as the players of a group become older, gain other responsibilities, or even move apart and have to accommodate different travel times or even different timezones. Memes referring to the difficulty exist.[1] Open table play is one way of making scheduling easier, by allowing different players to attend each session depending on their availability, but this reduces the continuity between sessions and requires a sufficiently large pool of potential players to ensure that sessions are possible at any given time.

Various tools can be used to make scheduling easier. One of the most popular is Doodle, a free-to-use website that allows a GM (or host or other facilitator) to list all possible times for a game, which players will then access to indicate which of the options work for them. Calendars and calendar apps (e.g. Google Calendar) are also useful.
