Are you objecting to the word "antonym" or do you think some other concept applies? I thought it was pretty straightforward: metagaming is thinking as the player, using out of game knowledge; immersion is thinking as the character, using in-world knowledge. Hm. I didn't like the term antonym because I thought immersion had a broader meaning than that. Having tried to find an actual definition, I realise that it means different things to different people (and in different contexts), so sometimes it is an antonym but sometimes not exactly. I think? It probably should be mentioned on this page somehow, though. -- Supermorff (talk) 11:14, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
I've thought about it a bit more, and here's what I think my initial objection boils down to: I think immersion is something that players experience, and metagaming is something that players do. What are your thoughts on it? -- Supermorff (talk) 08:52, March 21, 2020 (UTC)
